Zimbabwe proverb A celebration of song from all over the world, Choired for Sound brings together some of the UKs finest community choirs for a weekend of workshops and song. Workshop leaders for 2009 include: Black Voices have spent the past 21 years researching, distilling, teaching and performing black music styles in the oral tradition. They work with groups to enable and empower them to produce quality music a cappella, encouraging participants to find and exploit their vocal potential. MaryAnn Kennedy needs little introduction: a Glasgow Gael with both a trad music background and classical training coupled with fifteen years experience working with the BBC has established her as a major figure in the Scottish music scene. She teaches Gaelic song in the UK and the US, as well as leading choirs here in Scotland. Ross Anderson is musical director of Belfast's LGBT singing group, Quire. Ross is a qualified Estill vocal technique trainer, and runs his own private studio working with many singers and actors. His repertoire that ranges from traditional to music theatre, pop and classical.
![]() Sophie Bancroft is one of the most in demand vocal tutors in the UK, who covers everything from natural voice techniques and song arrangement skills to musicality and phrasing. You don't have to be a member of a choir to attend! If you just like to sing, come along. All Choired for Sound workshops are free of charge, but places are limited and will fill up early.
